How to visualise music through a generative festival identity? (BA)
About the project
My BA project focused on designing a generative festival identity, consisting of simple design elements such as shape, colour and size. By filling out a registration form, both the artists and the festival visitors were able to generate their own variation of the identity in the form of a pattern.

The form questions the visitors about their taste in music, digitally or on paper. The answers they give will generate a pattern, consisting of a combination of geometrical shapes in different colours and sizes.

The generated pattern function as the visitor's personal identity during the festival. The patterns are applied on tickets, wristbands and merchandise, which can be bought in an online shop.

The artists playing also get their own patterns, used in promotion and to make it easier for the festival visitors to navigate the line-up. By comparing the artists' patterns with their own, the visitors can get a better idea of what kind of music will be played.
